Atlantic Health System's School of Medical Laboratory Science has educated medical laboratory scientists for more than half a century.* Accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS), our 12-month program incorporates didactic sessions and rotations of clinical practice in laboratories at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ, Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ, Newton Medical Center in Newton, NJ, and Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, NJ. Most of our classroom instructors also teach in the laboratories, providing a continuity of instruction that enhances the clinical laboratory educational experience.
Atlantic Health System Laboratories
The laboratories at Morristown, Overlook, Newton and Chilton medical centers are dedicated to delivering accurate, timely, value-driven diagnostic information and services. Our staff strives to anticipate, pursue and implement advances in laboratory medicine, while providing exceptional service to meet the needs and expectations of the people we serve. Staffed by 18 board-certified pathologists and 230 laboratory professionals and equipped with the latest technology, our laboratories perform more than 5 million tests per year. We are proud to partner with Mayo Medical Laboratories to provide a wide range of specialized testing.
Certificate in Medical Laboratory Science
After successful completion of all clinical and lecture requirements at the School of Medical Laboratory Science, each student receives a Certificate in Medical Laboratory Science, from Atlantic Health System's School of Medical Laboratory Science. A completed transcript (32 credits) will be sent to the student's affiliated college or university and the student is eligible to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification Examination.
*Currently, we are not accepting any new 3+1 or 4+1 medical laboratory science students for the 2017-2018 academic year. If you have any questions, please contact our program director.
